In a small island with limited and valuable land resources the decisions of the States of Jersey Minister for Planning are often called into review. At Benest & Syvret we have a wealth of experience in acting for clients in respect of Planning Appeals both on behalf of private clients and commercial developers. We have acted in a number of cases which have defined the Planning Law in recent years and were substantially involved in submissions which lead to the development and implementation of the Island Plan 2011.
An applicant’s right of appeal
In broad terms there are three routes to an appeal from a decision of the Jersey Planning Department or Minister.
Careful reflection has to be made before choosing a particular route for a planning appeal in Jersey. The best approach will vary from case to case as will the likely costs of any such appeal.
